By the end of class students will have a solid understanding of Photoshop basics - saving and opening .psd and working with multiple images - as evidenced by saving and opening a .psd and by taking a screenshot of 4 open simultaneously opened documents in Photoshop.
By the end of class students will be able to recompose a shot so that it has a clear Subject and Background as evidenced by writing 3 short paragraphs each about a different way to make the photo below have a clearer Subject and Background. One way for this picture to have a clearer subject and background is if the guys taking a picture of him were smaller and off to the side so they werent such a distraction.
Another way for it to have a cleaer subject is if the background was just the sky instead of a bunch of trees. The last way to improve the identification of the subject is if they weren't on this type of roof, like if it was an aerial shot of the snowboarder then it would be fine. By the end of class students will have an extremely clear understanding of the principle of Subject/Background as evidenced by drawing a detailed picture that has a clearly defined Subject and Background.
By the end of class students will be able to identify photos with a clearly defined subject/background as evidenced by finding 2 photos that do and 2 that don't and posting them to your website.
